It’s a small Island around 228.7 km2 ,its covered in coconut trees and surrounded with beautiful white sandy beaches. The Island has established it’s self as one of Thailand’s top destinations. The Island has loads to offer and depending on what type of holiday you want you will find it here on Koh Samui.

Many come here to search for relaxation and Koh Samui does not disappoint, reason being the Island has well over 100 spa resorts dedicated to every type of pampering your body could need. Places like the Kamalaya spa resort have won an award for being the best spa retreats in Asia. Koh Samui also has traditional Thai massage almost everywhere you look, which makes the Island uniquely dedicated to keeping you the tourist relaxed.

Some of the best restaurants in Thailand can also be found on Samui giving you a choice of some of the best cuisine in the world. A great range of all types of sports are on Samui and a never ending list of great sightseeing spots like temples, waterfalls and some spectacular views.

The Island has one airport which is owned by Bangkok airways and there is an excellent ferry service from the mainland Thailand that operates a fast ferry which takes around 20mins. The Island has a full taxi service and small bus service that work all over the Island.
For shopping, Koh Samui has a Tesco Lotus supermarket , Big C and a Makro all with everything you can imagine in the way of goods and food to buy. The main town of Chaweng has a great range of shops and local markets to keep you busy for weeks finding bargains.

Koh Samui as a great nightlife scene and it has to be said the best in the whole province of Surathani when it comes to clubs. With Koh Phangan just across the water and its famous fullmoon party, Koh Samui has some strong competition when the moon turns full. But Phangan needs the full moon and Samui does not because the party life and clubbing is every night.

So Chaweng is the main resort of Koh Samui and the biggest and there are about five big clubs that stick out that will always have a buzz and great atmosphere. The first and one of the most famous is the Green Mango in the soy Green Mango, soy meaning road and just of the main Chaweng road is a small road with loads of bars and clubs, at the end of it is the Green Mango. This is a huge club with about nice bar areas and two dance floors. Two DJ booths and 2 types of music on the entrance on the outside its mainly hip-hop and in the back its all dance music. The club has a stage on the inside part which is always full of dancers. There are big screens everywhere usually showing sports events, about 10 pool tables and two area with toilets. Overall this club is the biggest and attracts all types of people, starts around 10pm but does not really fill up until around 12:30 and closes at 3am. A great club, a lot of Thai women here on the game, you’ve been warned.

Opposite The Green Mango is a club called Sweet and Soul this is another very nice designed club with a bar in the middle and then a big bar covering the back part of the club. Good sound system here and attracts a lot of Thai locals, gets very busy on the weekends but an enjoyable sound system.

The Mint bar is almost opposite the Sweet and Soul and is another great little club; it is rather small but does create a good atmosphere. Good DJ’s are often in this club. Clean design and modern looking. A lot of people prefer this club more than the Green Mango.

Now two other big clubs are Solo club and Sound pub both these clubs are the late clubs and stay open to around 6am sometimes 7or 8am, depending on the night.

So Solo club is a big open air club with about 4 bar areas and one DJ booth which has roof covered dance floor. Overall this is a basic looking club nothing really special here. It gets very busy after 3am due to the fact that it stays open until 6am.

The Sound Pub another great club and its improved over the years and I know for a fact that the owner of this club has been to Ibiza before he made the modern upgrade, which was done in the early part 2009. This is a great club and again don’t really get going until after 3am , but it’s well worth a visit, it seems like the whole Island descends here at around 3am , its normally very busy and the dance floor is packed with people. A Thai DJ here and he likes to play all the tunes we know. The dance floor is as the back which is next to the DJ booth a big round bar in the centre makes and one on the right side as you walk in, there is also another club inside a room which gets very packed, but in here they have aircon.

On the other side of Chaweng over the lake there is another big club called the Reggai Pub , this is a nice styled club and serves for the older generation as it’s a bit more relaxing and the music does get faster as the night goes on. Mainly dance music some live bands perform here also.

I have just mentioned the biggest and most famous on the Island of Koh Samui. Also three times a month there is a black moon party at the big open air club Chaweng Lake Veiw, when this opens most the clubs close to support the event.
